Nayab Ikram on ahvenanmaalainen valokuvaaja ja taiteilija. Hänen juurensa ovat Pakistanissa, tällä hetkellä hän asuu Turussa. Ikram on valmistunut valokuvaajaksi ammattikorkeakoulu Noviasta, Pietarsaaresta vuonna 2015. Nayab Noor Ikram työskentelee kulttuuri-identiteetin ja identiteettien muodostumiseen liittyvien käsitteiden parissa. Teoksissaan Ikram antaa muodon sisäiselle maailmalleen omakuvien kautta. Teokset heijastavat hänen omaa kulttuuri-identiteettiään hiusten kautta, niin tietoisella kuin tiedostamattomallakin tasolla, vaikutteinaan yhteiskunta ja henkilökohtaiset kokemukset. Hän lähestyy identiteetin näkökulmia valokuvan, videon ja installaation kautta. Ikramilla on ollut useita yksityisnäyttelyitä ja hän on osallistunut ryhmänäyttelyihin Euroopassa. Hänen teoksiaan on ollut esillä Pakistanin suurlähetystössä Brysselissä Belgiassa (2017), Rotterdamin valokuvafestivaaleilla Hollannissa sekä Moderna museetissa Ruotsissa(2016).
Nayab Ikram is a photographer and visual artist from the Åland Islands. She is of Pakistani descent and currently based in Turku. She graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Culture and Arts, majoring in photography, from Novia University of Applied Sciences, Jakobstad.
Ikram works with concepts related to cultural identity and the formation of identities. In her ongoing body of work she is focusing on the feeling of the in between. Looking at the symbolic meaning of hair from a historical perspective, and how the meaning is influenced by society and personal experiences. She approaches the perspectives through photography, video and installation. Ikram has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Europe. She has exhibited her work through the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels, Belgium (2017), at the Rotterdam Photo Festival, The Netherlands (2017) and the Moderna Museet, Sweden (2016).
